Darrington Architects was founded by Alice Marshall at the start of 2016. Darrington is Alice’s maiden name, and we are proud to carry on the Darrington family name through the business.

Alice qualified in Sheffield and gained a wealth of experience working in a medium sized practice, on projects across the north of England, as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Alice quickly progressed here to become a company director.

Alice’s broad architectural and business experience has been of great benefit to Darrington Architects, and she has enjoyed taking on both familiar and new challenges within the domestic, education and developer scheme sectors. Most of our projects take place within Bedfordshire, although Alice has undertaken work from Gloucestershire to Norfolk and Kent to Derbyshire!

Most of our work is within the domestic residential sector, ranging from single and two-storey extensions, internal modification and reconfiguration works, loft conversions, outbuilding/garage conversions, to new build properties.

We also enjoy working on developer-led schemes for residential, commercial and industrial projects of varying scales and complexity.

Darrington Architects has extensive knowledge of education sector schemes. Alice’s master’s degree focused on the design of spaces for learning for the future. This included a presentation to a Government Education Thinktank in 2007 and an exhibition at RIBA Portland Place of her ‘eXplore learning’ thesis scheme. We thoroughly enjoy any opportunity to work within the education sector, however large or small.
